Insurance: fleet cover or your own policy

What Premium’s included insurance covers, who qualifies, and how bringing your own hire-and-reward policy works.

Two routes, one rule

Every van on hire must be insured for hire and reward — ordinary social-and-commuting cover does not count when you are paid to deliver. You get there one of two ways.

Route one: fleet cover on Premium

Premium plans include hire-and-reward fleet insurance in the weekly price. Eligibility is checked at booking: typically aged 23 or over, licence held two years or more, no more than six penalty points and no serious convictions. If you sit outside those lines we can sometimes refer you to the insurer — you will know the same day.

The excess — the most you pay towards any claim — is shown on your plan and printed in your agreement before you sign. Excess protection is available as an add-on on eligible plans.

Route two: your own policy

On Basic and Standard plans you arrange your own hire-and-reward policy and upload the certificate before collection. Points to watch:

  • The certificate must name you (and any other drivers) and cover hire-and-reward use.
  • Cover must run for the whole hire — a one-month policy on a twelve-week hire will block collection when it lapses.
  • Annual policies usually work out cheaper per week than monthly ones. The cost planner on our plans page lets you add your own quote and compare the total honestly against Premium.

Who can drive

Only drivers named on the agreement and approved by us may drive the van, whichever route you take. Business accounts add or swap approved drivers from the dashboard; each new driver uploads a licence and DVLA check code first.

If something happens

Report any incident the same day from your dashboard — the accident guide walks through the scene itself. Claims are handled by us on fleet cover, or by your insurer on your own policy, and any charge to you is capped at the excess on your agreement.
