Two payments, one screen
Before you collect, two amounts are due: the refundable deposit and the first week’s hire. Both are shown on your quote, your booking page and the agreement — the figure never changes between them.
The deposit
Deposits run from £200 to £300 depending on van class. It is not a fee: it is held for the length of your hire and returned within ten working days of check-in, less any agreed deductions, which are always itemised with photos. The deposit guide covers the return in detail.
The first week
Hire is billed weekly in advance, so the first week is paid before the keys are handed over. Every price on the site and the invoice includes VAT, and VAT-registered businesses receive a full VAT invoice.
How to pay
Card or bank transfer from your dashboard both work for the upfront payment. Most customers also set up a Direct Debit at this point so the weekly invoices collect themselves — the weekly billing guide explains the rhythm.
Delivery, add-ons and part weeks
- Delivery within the depot’s service area is available for a small per-mile fee, free close to some depots; the price shows during booking.
- If your hire starts mid-week, the first invoice is priced by the day so you only pay for the days you have the van.
One honest warning
The slot is only confirmed once both payments have cleared. Paying the evening before a morning collection is usually fine by card, but a first-time bank transfer can take hours — do not leave it to the last minute.
